QCOE Tricentis tool administrator & Test Automation Architect
The Norfolk Southern (NS) Quality Center of Excellence (QCOE) team is looking for a Senior Tricentis tool administrator. This admin will provide administration to the Tricentis suite of products such as Tosca server, DEX (Tosca distributed execution agents), NeoLoad controller and load generators, and the various integrations between these tools and with qTest. This will include software installation of upgrades & patches, user management, and certificate management across a 4 tier (dev, qa, prod, dr) landscape.
Additionally, as a secondary responsibility, the individual will perform as an Automation Consultant in the areas of testing tools, CI/CD integration, and Center of Excellence Experience. As a Quality Architect team member, you will additionally be responsible for all activities related to the entire testing tool landscape which includes, but is not limited to, configuring the testing systems/tools, integrating with the other systems, developing standards and best practices, developing test case automation, and providing oversight, guidance, and enforcement to other areas in their test management automation journey.
NS has implemented a test management environment utilizing the following tools to support and manage test activities:
Core Systems: qTest, qTest Desktop Explorer, Tosca, Vision AI, TDS, DEX, & NeoLoad
Integrated Systems: Jira, LiveCompare, SonarQube, Sauce Labs and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
NS continues to explore tools to support future testing capabilities that you will need to learn and utilize as the test management environment capabilities expand. NS requires you to have full, in-depth knowledge of these core systems and how they work / integrate with Integrated systems each other.
This position will be required to work from 8:00 – 5:00 in the U.S. Eastern Time Zone. On-call support is to be included.
Primary Duties of the Position:
Tricentis tool admin duties:
- Perform system and software administration duties for Core Systems (above) running on a combination of Windows VMs, VDIs, and physical servers (note: not responsible of OS, VM, or physical hardware, just software admin level duties)
- Triage technical issues with Core Systems working with QA architects, QA engineers, and vendor support to determine/implement resolution
- Apply patches and upgrades to Core Systems
- Support multi-tier landscape for Core Systems for proper patch/upgrade management
- Facilitate proper testing across multi-tier landscape for Core Systems
QCOE duties:
- Configure, support, and maintain the Core Systems Tosca with qTest
- Configure, support, and maintain the Core Systems Tosca and qTest with Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
- Configure, support, and maintain the integrations with the Integrated Systems
- Develop, maintain, and enforce best practices and processes for Core & Integrated Systems Tosca, qTest with Jenkins CI/CD
- Provide oversight and guidance to testing teams through weekly and ad hoc meetings leveraging the Core Systems, Integrated Systems, and best practices/processes defined
- Coordinate with vendors for Core Systems and Integrated Systems for support activities and triage of issues
- Represent the Quality COE team for the projects assigned by team management
- Provide product training and guidance for Core Systems and Integrated systems
- Research/architect/design/implement new testing technologies and integrations
Additional Test Engineer duties:
- Adopt and utilize the best practices and standard processes established by the QCOE for test management and test execution
- Develop / design manual test cases for assigned application(s) working with application team and business partners
- Lead discussions and actively communicate with test lead, scrum master, project manager, business partners, and application developers for test management and test development activities
- Decompose user stories to develop and design robust test cases and complete test scenarios
- Develop / execute manual test cases / scenarios in qTest
- Link individual test cases in qTest to requirements / user stories
- Develop automated test cases in Tosca
- Link automated test cases in Tosca to qTest
- Execute manual test cases in qTest and document results
- Report bugs in Jira linked to qTest project
- Execute automated test cases in Tosca leveraging existing integrated technologies such as DEX, qTest/Launch, Sauce Labs, Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, and others as defined
- Coordinate with the QCOE for peer review of test design strategy, automated test cases, and adoption/adherence of standards and best practices
- Perform/support unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing activities
- Performance testing and/or support of performance testing may be required
- Adopt/adhere to execution of RTM (Requirements Traceability Matrix) in qTest to ensure proper requirements to test case coverage
- Identify the gaps in the test cases and create the missing requirements / test cases for the gaps
- Provide product, skill training and best practices knowledge to other team members for test management and automation
Education:
Bachelor's degree or job-related experience as outlined above
Job Related Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in test management areas and test automation

Experience in using Jira system for all integration requirements of qTest / Tosca
Required:
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience using Tricentis testing automation tools: Tosca (required) in version 2023.1 and above, including such skills as SQL, CI/CD integration, Git, Agile in Android and IOS applications (on Ionic Framework)
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience leveraging DEX environment from Tosca; create the queues, analyzing the issues within DEX environment and developing best practices using DEX in sharable environment
- 3+ years of experience and proficiency developing, implementing, and executing data-driven or keyword driven testing frameworks using testing tools like Selenium, Coded UI Test (CUIT), Unified Functional Test (UFT), etc. to facilitate test automation
- 5+ years of experience and proficiency in implementing and executing testing strategies, plans, methodologies, and frameworks in support of Agile / SAFe / DevOps / DevSecOps development methodologies
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience integrating test management tools into CI/CD pipeline
- Define / Develop test strategies, test plans, KPI’s, metrics, defect management and reporting
- Must be able to lead meetings with other application tester teams for QCOE oversight
- Ability to translate requirements / user stories into in-depth test cases
- Ability to define / develop data management strategy and plans
- Ability to define / develop individual as well as end-to-end test scenarios
- Strong cross functional collaboration
- Must be a self-starter with an ability to work with limited oversight
- Must be able to work with remote / global team successfully
Desired:
- Experience with Vision AI and creating custom modules from that engine
- Experience with NeoLoad for performance testing
- Experience with HTML, CSS
- Working experience with Agile methodologies (SCRUM)
- Working experience with Jira
