Job Description

The Business Analyst plays a key role in supporting operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and technology modernization across the utility. This position partners with business units, engineering, and IT to analyze processes, gather requirements, and deliver solutions that improve reliability, customer experience, and organizational performance. 

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, experience with both waterfall and agile SDLC, and the ability to translate complex needs into actionable plans.

Responsibilities

Conduct operational, financial, and customer data analysis to support decision‑making and performance improvement.

Lead requirements gathering sessions and translate business needs into clear functional and technical documentation.

Support projects using waterfall and agile software development lifecycle methodologies, including user story creation, sprint planning, and UAT coordination.

Map and optimize business processes across customer service, billing, field operations, and grid operations.

Develop dashboards, reports, and analytics to support forecasting, regulatory filings, and operational insights.

Collaborate with IT and engineering teams on system enhancements and implementations (OMS, CIS, GIS, AMI, EAM).

Assist with regulatory and compliance activities, ensuring alignment with state and federal requirements.

Facilitate communication between technical and non‑technical stakeholders to ensure project alignment and clarity.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of Business Analyst experience in a technology, operations, or data‑driven environment.

Strong knowledge of waterfall and agile SDLC methodologies.

Experience creating business requirements, user stories, process maps, and acceptance criteria.

Proficiency with analytical tools such as SQL, Power BI/Tableau, Excel, ADO, or similar platforms.

Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Ability to work across multiple teams and manage competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the electric utility industry (generation, transmission, or distribution) is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, information systems, data analytics, or a related field.

Familiarity with utility systems such as OMS, CIS, GIS, AMI, or EAM.Understanding of regulatory frameworks (NERC, FERC, state utility commissions) and utility operations terminology.
