#21467 - Graduate Mechanical Engineer
Qualitest is seeking a motivated Graduate Mechanical Engineer to provide technical expertise supporting both existing and new product lines. This role involves hands-on engineering work focused on design, sustaining engineering, and manufacturing support. You will contribute to product optimization efforts and participate in new product development, including the setup of new production lines.
This is a fully onsite position requiring presence five days per week at our Ball Ground, GA facility. The role requires active engagement on the manufacturing floor in addition to office-based engineering work.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement product line improvements in accordance with regulatory and company guidelines.
- Troubleshoot prototype designs and quality defects, identifying and implementing corrective actions.
- Develop and execute test protocols to evaluate design changes, product enhancements, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Design and fabricate prototypes, tooling fixtures, and test benches as needed.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to optimize materials and improve design for manufacturability.
- Manage product costing and Bills of Materials (BOM) through centralized documentation systems.
- Identify and resolve product assembly issues to improve consistency and reduce variability.
- Partner with the design engineering team to ensure effective communication of new product introductions and product changes to production teams.
- Prepare and communicate Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and Technical Design Documentation (TDD).
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams on technical and quality-related matters.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), or related field.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the medical device industry.
- Understanding of factory metrics and Six Sigma principles.
- Familiarity with medical device design control processes and ISO standards (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 60601).
- Knowledge of quality standards, capital equipment processes, procurement, FMEA, APQP, and ISO 9001.
