Job Description – Lead Business Systems Analyst (BSA)
Location: US Remote-(EST Time zone)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to join our team. This individual will be responsible for driving the end-to-end requirements gathering process and ensuring business and technical teams are aligned on project goals. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, detail-oriented professional with the ability to quickly understand business needs, translate them into clear and actionable requirements, and work independently with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Lead sessions with business stakeholders to elicit, document, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with product owners, business leaders, developers, QA, and project managers to ensure requirements are fully understood and aligned with organizational goals.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain high-quality deliverables, including business requirement documents (BRDs), functional specifications, process flows, and use cases.
- Process Analysis: Analyze existing processes and workflows to identify opportunities for optimization, automation, and efficiency improvements.
- Solution Design Support: Collaborate with technical teams to ensure requirements are feasible, scalable, and aligned with architectural standards.
- Change Management: Assist with impact assessments, requirement traceability, and updates to documentation as scope or priorities evolve.
- Independent Execution: Take ownership of assigned initiatives and deliver requirements independently, hitting the ground running with little to no ramp-up time.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Serve as the liaison between business and IT, ensuring both perspectives are represented in project deliverables.
- Quality Support: Partner with QA to validate requirements coverage in test plans and ensure delivered solutions meet business expectations.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or in a related role.
- Proven experience leading requirements gathering sessions and producing high-quality documentation.
- Strong ability to hit the ground running on complex projects with minimal onboarding.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical terms.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior leaders and technical teams.
- Expertise in creating process flows, use cases, and requirement traceability matrices.
- Hands-on experience with requirements management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience gathering requirements and supporting technology initiatives in law firms, legal services, or legal technology platforms. Familiarity with case management, billing systems, document automation, and compliance requirements is strongly preferred.
- Exposure to reporting/BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
