Role - Network Engineer

Location - Remote (US) 


Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Distributed Energy Network Architect and Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, architecting, and engineering advanced distributed energy systems that integrate renewable energy resources, storage, and grid management technologies. The role requires a deep understanding of energy systems, smart grid technology, renewable energy, energy storage, and the ability to optimize energy distribution networks for efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1.Design and Architecture:

  • Design and architect distributed energy systems (DER) including solar, wind, battery storage, and microgrids.
  • Develop system architectures for integrating distributed energy resources (DERs) into existing grid systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design systems that meet performance, safety, regulatory, and economic objectives.

2.Engineering and Implementation:

  • Engineer solutions to integrate renewable energy sources, energy storage systems, and intelligent grid technologies.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, modeling, and simulations to determine optimal energy generation, storage, and distribution configurations.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of DER systems.

3.Optimization and Grid Integration:

  • Optimize the interaction between distributed energy systems and the main grid, focusing on grid stability, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Use advanced modeling and optimization tools to ensure effective energy distribution and consumption.
  • Work on grid integration strategies to ensure smooth and reliable power flow between centralized and decentralized energy resources.

4.Energy Storage and Management:

  • Design and manage energy storage systems (e.g., battery storage) to enhance grid reliability and improve load balancing.
  • Develop advanced energy management strategies to optimize the dispatch of distributed energy resources.

5.Technology Evaluation and R&D:

  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in renewable energy, energy storage, and smart grid technologies.
  • Lead research and development activities to continuously improve energy systems’ performance, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.

6.Regulatory Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure that all distributed energy systems meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements and safety standards.
  • Prepare documentation for regulatory approvals, permits, and environmental assessments.

7.Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, such as utilities, regulators, and customers, to ensure alignment on system design and operational requirements.

8.Monitoring and Maintenance:

  • Develop strategies for ongoing monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of distributed energy networks.
  • Oversee the maintenance and support of deployed systems, ensuring high availability and performance.

 

Key Skills and Qualifications:
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Systems Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in distributed energy system design, engineering, or integration.
  • Proven experience with distributed energy technologies such as solar, wind, battery storage, and microgrids.
  • Familiarity with energy management systems (EMS) and grid integration techniques.
  • Experience with grid modeling and simulation tools (e.g., PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, HOMER, MATLAB, etc.).

 

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, energy conversion, and renewable energy technologies.
  • Expertise in energy storage technologies and their integration into the grid.
  • Knowledge of smart grid systems, demand response, and real-time energy management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Certifications:
  • Certification in energy systems or smart grid technologies (e.g., CEM – Certified Energy Manager, LEED, or similar) is a plus.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and cross-functional environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Proactive and innovative mindset with a passion for renewable energy and sustainability.

 

Work Environment: This position may require occasional travel to project sites, client meetings, or industry events. Flexibility in work hours may be required to coordinate with global teams and project deadlines.
