Senior DevOps Engineer

What is your mission?

As a DevOps Engineer you will lead engineering duties such as:

• Cloud readiness assessments
• AWS architecture design
• System evaluation and system analysis
• AWS infrastructure operations
• Optimization and maintenance
• Change and configuration management
• Support, release, control and validation of cloud infrastructure deployment and migration

What is your responsibility?

• Engineering automated, fault-tolerant, scalable AWS environments adhering to AWS best practices for small to large initiatives
• Maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure in optimal configuration from both technical and budgetary perspectives
• Providing escalation support and expertise to incident management processes involving AWS infrastructure or related issues
• Refactoring or rebuilding on-premise applications and infrastructure for migration to AWS cloud
• Composing and leveraging Terraform templates to ensure repeatable and sustainable AWS infrastructure management
• Investigating reported and suspected outages and other issues
• Overseeing documentation of issues and resolutions
• Maintaining a knowledge base of known issues
• Producing, overseeing, and maintaining documentation such as architecture diagrams and system designs
• Assessing cloud systems to identify potential weaknesses and upgrading software and hardware systems to ensure optimal performance
• Monitoring cloud resource consumption and billing, setting financial controls, generating reports, and applying cloud governance methodologies

What superpowers are we looking for?

• 5+ years of experience working with AWS and a proven track record of building complex infrastructure
• Expert-level knowledge of AWS architecture and services (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, etc.)
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, etc.)
• Experience engineering and maintaining high availability production systems
• Experience in software installation, configuration, and patching
• Knowledge of system monitoring in a cloud environment, including cloud-specific tools and products
• Experience with Agile and DevOps concepts
• Experience developing monitoring architecture: implementing monitoring agents, dashboards, escalations, and alerts
• Experience with DevOps release and build management, automation scripts, Git, bash scripting, PowerShell, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, Jenkins, Chef, or Puppet
• Strong AWS design experience
• Experience with container platforms such as OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
