As per the functional tester spec plus specific requirements for testing APIs•Someone who understands what an API is, they have the ability to engage in meaningful discussions with a PM/Configurator/Developer relating to the API specificationoThey can articulate the components of an API and HTTP methods in contextoThey know what they are looking at and can map the requirements to the API and vice versa.oThey can inspect and identify important information that is missing from a specoThey can identify the expected behaviour.oThey can select appropriate test data (based on the API spec) and can engage with configurators as to examples of the data.oThey can identify where data types / boundaries / min/max values / optional/mandatory values are missing and articulate this to a PM / Configurator.oThey can use context appropriate terms at the appropriate level dependent on who they are speaking to.oThey can identify and query any specific business rules.oThey can create test cases and collections so that anyone on the project can execute the tests.oThey can create test cases and collections that exercise the requirements and business rulesoThey can document those test cases within the tool for inspection by the PM / ConfiguratorsoThey can create requests and assert on the responses in an understandable manneroThey can set headers / query parameters / request bodiesoThey can assert status codes / headers / response bodiesoThey can identify edge cases and create test cases for thoseoThey can create test cases based on invalid inputs and be able to identify if the error messages are appropriate for the functionality being exercised•Someone with an understanding of the specific challenges of testing an API (as opposed to the UI)•Someone who can create tests and assertions based on the business logic that the API is exercising•Someone who has a basic understanding of JS and can create assertions using JS if required (As they will be using Postman)•Someone whose knowledge of API testing that extends beyond a simple 200 response assertion•Someone with the knowledge and ability to chain requests from an E2E perspective using property transfers, dynamic variables•Someone who can utilise the test runner for high-level performance testing•They have the ability to configure the tool to run against different environments using environment variables•They have the ability to create a test design that outlines the *why of the test and the structure of a test referencing relevant business rules, highlighting assumptions, test data and reference to the relevant Acceptance Criteria3 must havesFunctional testing 4/5API 4/5Insurance domain 3/5
