As per business needPosition OverviewEli Lilly and Company is seeking a skilled and experienced Performance Test Engineer to join the Technology & Digital Solutions team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, executing, and analyzing performance test strategies for Lilly's enterprise applications and digital platforms. You will work closely with development, architecture, and DevOps teams to embed performance engineering practices into the software delivery lifecycle, ensuring our systems meet the highest standards of reliability, scalability, and speed ? supporting Lilly's mission to improve the lives of patients worldwide.Key ResponsibilitiesPerformance Testing & Execution? Design, develop, and maintain performance test scripts using Apache JMeter and Grafana k6 for load, stress, spike, soak, and scalability testing scenarios.? Define and execute performance test plans aligned with acceptance criteria established in collaboration with product owners and architects.? Conduct baseline benchmarking and trend analysis to proactively identify performance degradation across application releases.? Simulate real-world user behavior and concurrent load patterns reflective of Lilly's production traffic profiles.Analysis, Reporting & Optimization? Analyze performance test results, identify bottlenecks (CPU, memory, I/O, network, database), and provide clear, data-driven findings reports to engineering and leadership.? Collaborate with development teams to recommend and validate performance fixes and architecture improvements.? Track and report on SLAs, SLOs, and performance KPIs; maintain dashboards and historical performance baselines.? Perform root cause analysis on performance incidents and production degradation issues.CI/CD & DevOps Integration? Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps / Jenkins / GitHub Actions) to enable shift-left performance practices.? Automate performance regression testing gates as part of deployment workflows to prevent performance regressions in production.? Support cloud-based and containerized load generation using k6 Cloud, Azure Load Testing, or equivalent platforms.Strategy & Governance? Develop and maintain the performance engineering framework, standards, and best practices for the TDS organization.? Participate in architecture reviews and provide non-functional requirement (NFR) recommendations to product and engineering teams.? Mentor junior engineers on performance testing methodologies, tooling, and analysis techniques.? Ensure compliance with Lilly's data privacy, security, and quality standards in all test activities.Required QualificationsEducation & Experience? Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.? 5 to 6 years of hands-on experience in software quality engineering with a specialization in performance and load testing.? Demonstrated experience with enterprise-grade application testing in cloud-based and on-premises environments.Technical Skills? advanced scripting, distributed load generation, parameterization, correlation, and plugin usage (PerfMon, Throughput Shaping Timer).? JavaScript-based test scripting, threshold definitions, scenarios, extensions (xk6), and k6 Cloud execution.? Strong understanding on HTTP/HTTPS, REST APIs, Microservices? Experience with APM and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or Azure Monitor.? Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred) and containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes).? Working knowledge of CI/CD tools: Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.? Scripting proficiency in at least one language: JavaScript, Python, or Groovy for test automation and data-driven testing.?
