SPE Research unites science with technology to accelerate the LRL pipeline. We build advanced analytics platforms for scientists to rapidly analyze and visualize data in a scalable and reproducible way. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer with a deep background in infrastructure migration and platform ownership to lead the transition of our existing KNIME ecosystem to the KNIME Hub within Lilly?s managed infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Migration & Infrastructure LeadershipArchitect and execute the migration of the existing KNIME platform to the KNIME Hub ecosystem on Lilly-managed infrastructure.Modernize Authentication: Lead the transition from NTLM to OAuth authentication across all KNIME nodes to enhance security and compliance.System Integration: Design and implement robust integrations between the KNIME Hub and native Lilly platforms, specifically for molecule searching.Platform Ownership: Post-migration, take full end-to-end ownership of the KNIME Hub ecosystem, including long-term roadmap planning and design of new integrations. Operational Excellence & Node Maintenance Manage Node Health: Oversee ongoing maintenance, scaling, and performance tuning of KNIME nodes to ensure high availability for research scientists.Automation: Utilize best-in-class DevOps practices to automate platform deployment, monitoring, and recovery processes.Technical Leadership: Act as the subject matter expert for the platform, providing guidance to SPE Research leadership and infrastructure teams to ensure alignment with Info-Security standards. Basic Qualifications Experience: 8?10 years of professional experience in DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or Platform Management.Education: Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Technical Expertise: Proven track record of migrating complex enterprise platforms (specifically KNIME or similar data science workbenches).Expert-level knowledge of Linux and Windows server administration.Deep understanding of authentication protocols, specifically NTLM and OAuth/OIDC implementation.Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes (Helm), and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins). Cloud & Integration: Minimum 5 years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS preferred).Experience developing and managing APIs and complex data integrations.Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot root causes in distributed systems and implement preventive measures. Preferred Qualifications Industry Experience: Prior experience in the Pharmaceutical or Healthcare sector, ideally working with GxP or regulated systems.Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with scientific/lab systems or chemistry/biology data structures (e.g., molecule search tools).Leadership: Experience as a Technical Lead, overseeing service management and disaster recovery exercises.Advanced Education: Master?s degree in a technical discipline.Agile Mindset: Expertise in working within Agile frameworks to deliver iterative value in a fast-paced research environment.
